Chipperfield House is a large country manor house built in the 1800s set on 28 acres of land in Hertfordshire. The main house comprises 8 bedrooms with 3 separate dwellings, stables, workshops, stores and other outbuildings within the grounds of the estate.
Williams & Yates were asked to complete a multi location move to 3 separate properties, including storage as well for several months followed by the delivery of the belongings to a contemporary 7 bedroom property in Northamptonshire including 2 separate cottages, barns, outbuildings and swimming facilities.
With a removal of this nature there is no ‘off the shelf’ move plan that fits all. Our move plan was bespoke to work around our client’s specific timing requirements as well as what would work logistically. There were several requirements to take into account.
With many specifics to the move, organisation is of the upmost importance to our client. We allocated a dedicated move manager to oversee the move from quotation through to the final completion of the removal out of storage. Through our extensive experience there are many steps taken to ensure a seamless move and avoid things getting lost in translation.
‘Our move with Williams & Yates went smoothly. They showed flexibility and good sense. We felt looked after.’
Mr Barnard
A complete packing service was carried out of the content of the whole property over 5 days with a team of 4 technicians. This also formed part of the discussion with the client, we worked around their plans for the move dates to minimise disruption. With the multiple locations, everything was packed in a particular order with items clearly labelled and inventoried depending on their intended destination.
Selective items were cherry picked throughout the property for additional care. Our experienced team made up bespoke packing boxes to protect items. Gilded frames were kept hanging in bespoke boxes to avoid pressure points causing any damage, chandeliers were also kept hanging to maintain their integrity. All furniture was wrapped using toughened export wrap with a soft material interior to avoid marking the furniture. Sheets of card were used to provide extra padding and avoid pressure points, this is of significant importance for the items that were to be stored as they are likely to be sitting in an unnatural position whilst in storage.
As part of the pre move survey, each items was assessed to determine whether a crate was needed. measurements were taken and our crating team prepared the wooden crates in preparation prior to the move. Foam lined crates were used for items with intricate details. Crates were also used for extra large items that required storage.
With a move of this size it is inevitable that storage is required to allow for flexibility. The client requested we stored their belongings for 3 months in order to allow the current occupants to move out of the property as well as manage the flow of content being delivered to their new home.
